North East Carolina Prep School creates an educational environment where students are inspired to academic discovery and excellence through an emphasis on experiential learning. The approach is designed to honor individuality and diversity, nurture respect for self, others, and the environment, and to foster a lifelong love of learning. Small classes, strong parental support, and innovative teaching methods are hallmarks of our school.
NECP fosters an environment where students, parents, staff, and the community are responsible, involved partners of the educational process and achievement of all children. NECP strives to provide a rigorous preparatory program to prepare students for the competitive post-secondary learning environment.
Technology is a vital part of the school’s educational focus. NECP offers students access to computers and technological devices and provides students with practice at researching with computers and making presentations using technology. NECP also subscribes to Study Island and has purchased COWS (Chrome Books on Wheels) which allows student to chrome books to enhance learning.
NECP cultivates critical thinking skills by teaching students how to analyze, reason, and reach conclusions, They develop the ability to ask open-ended questions and engage in meaningful discussion as they apply their individual reasoning and critical thinking abilities.
We have also partnered with Edgecombe Community College to offer dual enrollment courses to qualified students. Interested college-transfer students are required to have a 3.0 GPA; students interested in career-based classes need a 2.5 GPA. Multiple NECP students have taken advantage of the College and Career Promise Program, taking classes at NECP in the morning and then taking their afternoon classes at ECC. Dual-enrollment courses include Public Speaking, English 101 , Music Appreciation and Intro to Business, Marketing, and Business Law. Interested students should see the Guidance Counselor for more information.
NECP offers staff members sufficient and appropriate professional development. Teachers are better prepared to apply knowledgeable teaching techniques and implement and expand the educational focus of the school. All students benefit and leave the school with what they have learned firmly ingrained in their minds.
